Portaferry Regeneration built the Portaferry Marina in 1995/6 and has owned and operated it ever since, to the benefit of the local community.  PRL now wishes to concentrate upon further regeneration of Portaferry by way of a Heritage Lottery Funded 'Townscape Heritage Initiative' and is therefore seeking Expressions of Interest from a suitably qualified person, association or company wishing to take over the Marina on a long-term basis. 
Portaferry Marina comprises a slipway, an access pier and ramp with security barriers, a floating breakwater and inner pontoons.  The breakwater and pontoons are anchored to the seabed by means of a chain and block system.  The entire facility has been subject to a regular maintenance programme.  The Marina is typically open from mid April to 31st October in any year and can accommodate 28 large boats on 'finger berths' (of which 12 are currently reserved for visiting boats) and a further 22 small boats on a linear basis.  Annual turnover has been in the region of £48K gross, with an approximately 50:50 contribution from the permanent and visitor berths.
